Greetings,

I tried to install the ATI Driver for the Fire GL 2 which comes with my
T41p. I followed the installation instructions but wasn´t able to start
the XServer. The main problem error message was like

(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

However the ATI driver seems to have been appropriately loaded before
(according to the log-file). Maybe there is just my XF86Config
wrong. But on the other hand the X-Server seemed to run before with a
similar configuration and just the "generic" graphic device instead.
Did anyone have similar problems? Could anyone help me here?

Also, does anyone know a good online-book (or other documentation) for
all this Linux-Configuration-Stuff? I am not yet very framiliar with
that but would like to know more about it. For example building a kernel
etc., how actually I can safely try out Kernel 2.6 for instance. Is it
worth to switch over to the 2.6 Kernel?

Another weird thing: ACPI did not seem to work on my computer (with Suse
Linux 9). When I enabled the ACPI-functions and then pressed one of the
buttons, the system ran extremely slowly - it took half an hour for
system halt. On the next boot I specified "ACPI=off" as boot-parameter.
Now all ACPI-functions seem to work (i.e. the system hilbernates or
suspends if I close the lid etc.).

Many thanks for any help,
Raphael
