[ltp] Ethernet (compatible cards?)

Hi all,

I'm about to buy a Network card for my trusted thinkpad 600 in order to 
connect to the University network. Now, before I spend any money, I 
wonder if any of you know of a compatibility list, and any help on 
setting the connection up? (I have never attempted this before, so 
please be gentle  :-)
