[ltp] ps/2 mouse wheel on tp 600e

Hi!
I'm the owner of a thinkpad 600e.
I have got a *very old* problem with my PS/2 mouse wheel.
The system doesn't correctly pump data to handle wheel movement.
After a research on google, i gave a look to "Thomas Hood" good page 
and then to http://kt.zork.net/kernel-traffic/kt20010806_129.html#8 .
Now (referred to previous link), does anyone hacked the kernel code as 
mentioned in thread to fix this problem? Could anyone tell me how to 
hack (i'm not expert)?
I run 2.4.21 from clean tree source on debian testing.
