Hey folks --

When running off of battery (and seemingly when I boot off battery then plug
in) my screen blanks after a few minutes. If it blanks while using X and I
press a key to restore the display, the backlight comes on but the screen
remains black and a little flickery.

I can get it back by switching to a console, press Fn-F3 to manually blank the
screen, press a key to restore the screen (now I can see the console), then I
can hit Ctrl+Alt+F7 to switch back to X.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Is this what the radeon
suspend patch it for? Or is there a way to get the laptop do to the switch
to console automatically?

cheers,
-steve
