[ltp] G series vs A series ???

I am in the market for a new Thinkpad.

Did 2 years on a 390E and 2 years on an A21e running Debian all the time.

Now I want to treat myself to a nice one and I don't
see any of the G models here:

Is the G series new or something?

Should I stick to the A series line?

Both A and G series seem to be desktop alternatives.

ANY thoughts or comments are welcome to help with my purchase.
