What did you try? Works fine here.

It's an Atheros chip onboard, isn't it? I hope there will be a driver

Linux on laptops still doesn't work out of the box. But there are
usually many others that tried it before you.
http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/ibm.html usually helps. And I didn't see
you asking questions about suspend on this list (I may have missed them
though). 

Except wlan my R40 works just fine. Including suspend, hibernation,
external monitor, modem, speedstep, etc. It takes some time and reading,
but it's worth the time.
