DMA support has been added in the kernel since version 2.4.21-pre7 IIRC.
Stock RH9 kernel doesn't support DMA for our chipset, neither kernel
updates, I think .

You should compile your own recent kernel, or maybe check in RedHat Rawhide
(live Redhat packages). Their current kernel includes patch-2.4.21-rc1.bz2,
which is more recent than 2.4.21-pre7.
