I'd rate the chances as excellent, assuming RedHat and Windows 98 (XP would be 
a different story.)

In a nutshell you use a tool called fips to split the windows partition, and 
use the now free space to install linux. During the process you can choose to 
leave the windows and recovery partitions untouched.
