I second this. radeonfb (kernel 2.4.21-ac2 too) works on my 2373-92U 
(radeon 9000 mobility). I previously disabled vesafb at boot time 
(vga=normal), and loaded radeonfb in the boot sequence.

Also note that suspend/resume has problems with vesafb too. But it 
works properly with XFree86/DRI and the dri-radeon-resume patch
from http://cpbotha.net/dri_resume.html. (Current DRI tree had
only partially incorporated this patch --the kernel drm part--
the last time I checked it out).
