It was indeed a problem with the EasyBios settings, and were reset with PS2
command of ps2 DISK 00 AC and ps2 DISK 00 DC.  Hope this helps someone else
down the road.

This maybe a BIOS setting.  On my 600X I have to run PS2.EXE and set the
auto spindown there.  (I set it to off and use noflushd.)
