I have the same Problem with my TP770.
The APM is configured probably and sees if the TP is on AC or not.
If i use the Debian Standard 2.2 Kernel, it never goes into suspend.
APM features are completely disabled.

I don't know if the suspend request comes from Linux or the TP itself.

The Bios is the newest Version thats available on the IBM Website.

I will try to compile a 2.4.20 Kernel without APM and see it if it goes to sleep anyway.
