*sigh*

Well I've gotten all my pnp issues squared away (I think); thanks for your help.

However, I've still got a bizarre random lockup on the 600E. After running for a while (anywhere from a half hour to two hours), the thing will just lock up, hard (like old Macintoshes used to do).

Total system lock-- won't even respond to the SysReq key. This makes me think it is a hardware problem of some kind.

In almost all of these cases, there's been a battery charging inside the thing. I can't seem to make it fail with a full battery. Could something ugly be happening when the battery reaches 100% charge? i.e. an interrupt on IRQ9 that blows everything up?

I've got the stock Woody kernel (2.4.18) which I've menuconfigged for my setup, and the separate pcmcia-cs and thinkpad-moduls packages. APM is there: suspend works fine; though I've never been able to get hibernation to happen.

I know that intermittent problems suck (oh boy, do I know how much they suck!), and troubleshooting over email is pretty useless, but if anyone's wrestled with this and won, please let me know how you did it.

Thanks!
