I personally think 1280x1024 is more odd then 1400x1050
1280x1024 is 5:4 and 1400x1050 is standard 4:3

But 1400x1050 is a very common resolution for 15" in notebook. 
The t40p is the only 14" notebook I know that has 1400x1050
