[ltp] ethernet dropouts

Hi,

I'm having a strange problem with my network...it drops out every now
and then, quite often actually. It's as if the connection would vanish
about every minute for some time and then suddenly come back. It's quite
annoying.

The setup is a T23 on a FLI4L (2.1.4) router, connected by cable through
the internal ethernet device (Intel PRO/100). Kernel is 2.6.5, 2.6.2
showed the same behaviour.

Either driver (e100 & eepro100) has the problem.
Kernel log shows this on every dropout:

Apr 8 13:17:26 froschkoenig kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit
timed out
Apr 8 13:17:26 froschkoenig kernel: e100: eth0: e100_watchdog: link up,
10Mbps,
 half-duplex
Apr 8 13:19:40 froschkoenig kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit
timed out
Apr 8 13:19:40 froschkoenig kernel: e100: eth0: e100_watchdog: link up,
10Mbps,
 half-duplex

or when using eepro100:

Apr 7 16:45:17 froschkoenig kernel: eth0: wait_for_cmd_done timeout!
Apr 7 16:46:18 froschkoenig last message repeated 12 times
Apr 7 16:47:03 froschkoenig last message repeated 6 times

Also when i do pinging, the last ping that gets back takes longer and
often the last and first pings around the dropouts return with errors.

I suspected the router but it seems like the problem is not there in
win. (Still not exactly shure about that.)

Any ideas what might cause this?

André.
