I do not see anything like that in the BIOS of my T23.

My /var/log/dmesg contains the following lines

  hda: attached ide-disk driver.
  hda: Host Protected Area detected.
          current capacity is 71969781 sectors (36849 MB)
          native  capacity is 78140160 sectors (40008 MB)

Are there any Linux tools that can disable the HPA?  Extra 3 gigs would
be nice to have.
