You must have posted that just before I subscribed, but thank you!  I, too, 
have been wondering why thinkpad-modules is not a standard package in Debian, 
not even in Sid.  You'd think that since tpctl is in there and a lot of 
people run Debian on Thinkpads, that thinkpad-modules would be there too, but 
all I see is thinkpad4-modules, which has no installation candidate.
