I'm having good results with using the madwifi drivers in my R40 with
built-in wireless and the IBM tri-mode mini-PCI card. The driver's still
beta, but is actively developed.

I have no idea. (-: I avoided the PCMCIA route because I didn't want to
have something sticking out of the side of the machine, so I didn't get as
far as researching such topics!
