 A previous poster indicated a problem with an ACPI module (fan or
 thermal?) conflicting in some way with the madwifi modules.  This
 helped me back then (I was in 2.6.3) and I experienced no more packet
 loss.

 Since I am in 2.6.5 (not the -mm version), I can't get my Atheros to
 work more than a minute.

   I'll take all hints too,
