Hardly worked at all for me.

I diligently put XFree back (I run XOrg now) and installed the new
drivers. Build the fglrx module, and even re-booted :) It came up OK,
but has severe probalmes trying to switch back to the console (I run fb
console @ 1600x1200 because I like the 200x75 text display I get). When
switching to the console the first time I got lots of garbage in the top
half of the screen. That soon scrolled off. But when switching back to
X, it just went to shite... Like someone had randomly moved individual
pixel rows left & right.

Trying to exit it (CTRL-BACKSPACE) was less than successful. Random
garbage again & a complete lockup. I just switched back to XOrg after
that. The speed increase on OpenGL apps etc just isn't worth the
instability. If they'd open-source the driver at least someone could try
& fix these problems. I'm not really sure ATI care much more than paying
lip service. Otherwise people wouldn't have so many problems... It is
after all designed for chipsets targeted at laptop as well as
desktops... People do SUSPEND laptops after all...

Oh I did try suspending... Again... I run ACPI... Screen goes to garbage
when switching to the console to do the suspend. Then it hung... Power
switch time again.

Meanwhile the ONLY problems I have with XOrg drivers is the 3d speed.
Maybe one-day I'll find a laptop I like with a gfx chipset that the
manufacturer don't think it is necessary to keep the interface a secret.
