On Fedora I experience problems since 2.6.9 too, but my problems are
caused by Fedora setting "CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND=y" in kernel config (see
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=140004). I doubt
that Debian activates USB suspend in their config (at least Knoppix
doesn't), so you're probably running in an other problem.

Did you ever realize how much text fits in eighty columns? If you now consider
that a signature usually consists of up to four lines, this gives you enough
space to spread a tremendous amount of information with your messages. So seize
this opportunity and don't waste your signature with bullshit nobody will read.
