I use Debian. (Unstable). Which isn't really unstable... It's more 
stable on my laptop (r50p) than XP is on my desktop at work (Which I 
only really use for Lotus Notes). My server also now runs Debian. Way 
better than redhat (I used 6.3, 7.3, 8 and 9 until very recently). SInce 
a lot of developers use debian, you know you're pretty unlikely to run 
into anything like rpmhell.
