I got the same results.  Now I'm tinkering with the dual-head displays.  It
works great, but unfortunately there's no simultaneous support for xinerama
and DRI... (unless I'm mistaken).  :)

Note, that 3D performance went up remarkably for me with
2.6 kernel.  I have R40 with ATI 7500, with 2.4 I got some
700+ fps in glxgears, now I'm running at 1100+, great...
