I have a similar laptop (P233 MMX - 64 ram) with Debian Woody. I think
that a combination of Gnumeric & Abiword is faster than OpenOffice on
this kind of computer... although I prefer Latex :)

For HTML pages, I use vi, so I can't help you :)  Maybe Bluefish?
