As a bit of further information, I just tried kernel 2.6.3 and its new
radeon driver with all the fb stuff compiled into the kernel rather
than as modules, and without the drm-trunk-module-src modules I was
using for 2.6.2. Given that arrangement, sleep (S3) and suspend (S4)
actually resume with consoles that are as functional as they were
before the suspend.

Although there are some other issues with 2.6.3 (or my CVS X) that
leave the radeon fb consoles a little messed up whenever X is running.
Among a few other glitches, whenever the prompt is at the bottom of
the screen, the command line shares the last console line with the
last line of output.

Also it looks like ACPI still doesn't report any further events after
a resume from sleep (S3).
