[ltp] TP600X disc problem

Hello.

I use TP600X dual boot with RH9 (earlier 7.3) and win 98 on 12 GB
Hitachi hd. While I don't have any problems with it running windows,
there is one problem with linux.

The problem is, my hd sometimes stops (I can hear that). If it happens
under linux, the machine freezes, and all I can do is hard reset (even
power-off doesn't work). I suspect that this has something to do with
the hd settings(power management?), but I'm affraid to mess with that. 
Can anyone suggest better settings?
