Hi,

I had previously disabled the Predesktop Area ("Hidden Protected Area") in the
BIOS -- ie, all 60GB of the disk was used for my data. After installing the
firmware upgrade, I still have all 60GB accessible.

Before the upgrade:
Feb 25 22:12:46 bebop kernel: hda: 117210240 sectors (60011 MB) w/7877KiB Cache, CHS=65535/16/63, UDMA(100)

After the upgrade:
Feb 27 11:15:24 bebop kernel: hda: 117210240 sectors (60011 MB) w/7877KiB Cache, CHS=65535/16/63, UDMA(100)

So it would appear that with the HPA disabled, no ill effects are felt.

Thanks,

Will
