[ltp] SVIDEO Out on T41p

Does anyone have SVIDEO out working on a thinkpad T41p?

I plugged in svideo, rebooted my machine and at the console (before X 
started) it wouldn't do anything when I pressed FN+F7. If I pressed 
FN+F7 while grub was still displayed my laptop screen would go black but 
nothing appeared on the TV.

Am I missing a driver or something? Does svideo only work when X is started?

If so, could someone send me their X configuration?
