I can't answer that myself, since like you, I don't have quite that
level of expertise, but if you ask this question on the Thinkpads list
(http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad) there are
people there who are Thinkpad dealers and who repair them for a living
and they have a great wealth of knowledge in that area. I'm sure they
can give you a good answer.
