Hello

The crucial difference between APM and ACPI is that the APM functions
are steered by the BIOS, while ACPI is controled by the operating
system. ACPI describes one of Compaq, Intel, Microsoft, Phoenix and
Toshiba developed standard for energy savings functions and the PCI
configuration.

With ACPI it doesn't matter, which configuration you have in your BIOS.
The reason for this conversion was among other things, that the
increased requirements for energy savings options couldn't be more
accommodated in the BIOS.

Have a nice day.
