[ltp] debian R40 no printer found

Hello,

I'm trying to get a printer to work on my R40.  Following options are
on in the kernel:
CONFIG_PRINTER=y
CONFIG_PARPORT=y

also my bios has the mode ecp set for the parallel port

dmesg reports:
lp: driver loaded but no devices found

I installed cups and it doesn't list the parallel port to select of

echo foo > /dev/lp{0,1,2} doesn't give anything.

Any ideas?
