[ltp] Cisco Aironet doesn't keep ESSID

I bought a used T40 with a Ciscon Aironet MPI350. The card has a ESSID
on it that I can't seem to premanently override. I can:

ifdown eth1
iwconfig eth1 essid ""
ifup eth1

At boot time to get it working, but this is a pain in the rear to do
every boot. I don't want to script it, because it shouldn't have to
work this way.

How can I set the essid and get it to stick? I'm using SuSE 9 with the
new Cisco drivers for Linux.

Thanks.
