System: ThinkPad X21 with Ultrabay

Operating systems tried:
    (1) Fedora Core 2 (currently)
    (2) Mandrake 10.0
    (3) RedHat 9.0

 GUI: Gnome

Modem: Hawkins Serial Modem (Hayes compatible)
The modem works perfectly on a serial port of a Sun
UltraSpark Workstation running Aurora Linux (a
version fo RedHat 7.3 ported to Sun)

Ultrabay: can locate and use diskette drive, mouse
port and RW-CD drive

Problem: Cannot detect the serial modem located on
port ttyS0 on the Ultrabay, so I am unable to connect
to my ISP.

I have the latest BIOS update installed and the serial
port is ENABLED. How do I get Linux to see the serial
port? There must be a BIOS config utility that I do
not have that can solve this 2 month problem.

BTW: I have tried everything from minicom to modem
lights to etc,, etc, etc, with no success in seeing
the serial device.
