OK, I found a page that told me to load the evdev driver and now X =
starts up
properly (YEAH!)  However, when I stop the server, I still get the text
console corruption which makes tweaking configurations difficult at =
best...

Also, KDE complains that it can't open /dev/dsp, but AFAICT the sound
drivers are all loaded properly...  Any ideas?
