[ltp] T41: e1000 does not find device

Hello,

I'm new to this list, so I hope this is not an FAQ. I googled and
checked the mailing list archive, though.

I got a shiny new T41 and don't get its internal network card working.
The hardware itself is OK, it works under Windows XP that came with
the box.

This is Linux 2.4.19 from SuSE 8.1 (i.e., not a stock kernel),
I don't use ACPI if that matters.
e1000 module version is 4.3.15. No module parameters are set.
modprobe e1000 outputs "init_module: No such device"

lspci lists the card as "Unknown device 101e (rev 03)", so this fits
to the descriptions I've found on the net. hwinfo tells me that the
device is "Intel EtherExpress PRO/100+ Server Adapter (PILA8470B)".
There is more information from hwinfo (vendor, device, revision) if
that helps to identify the problem.

All information on the Net just says "it works". Any idea why it
doesn't work at my system? Any changes in the e1000 module code?

Cheers,
	Joachim
