Hmm.  I haven't had any trouble with USB here, but then again, I've
only used it briefly for temporarily inserted memory keys, compact
flash, etc.

With more recent madwifi versions it has worked for me once I defined
SOFTLED before building, i.e.

  export COPTS=-DSOFTLED
