[ltp] IBM DVD-writer?

Any success stories with getting the ThinkPad Multi-Burner Ultrabay
Slim Drive (Part Number: 73P3294) working under Linux?  Like to know
it's compatible if I bought one.  How much does DVD writing ability
still depend on specific hardware?  Is it likely to "just work"?
This would be to fit in a T40.

If anyone's specifically using it with Fedora, even better.. any
success stories welcome..
