Would this be also a reason for 2.6.5 kernel acpi to not function with a
T40 upon shutdown? Since I have the fglrx driver in use and when I
shutdown when docked, the machine powers off, but when I don't have the
machine in the dock, I have to push the power button for power off to
happen...?

Also as we are on the subject of fglrx + Thinkpad:

Has anyone gotten the T40 with it's
ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 Lf [Radeon Mobility 9000 M9] (rev 02)
chipset to give all the time DRI-D output onto a Flat monitor on gentoo
installations? Mine seems to give DRI-D output through the dock only if
the machine has been turned off for about the night. :) And if I log out
of my window manager and return to gdm, I get output only onto the
laptop screen... which is annoying for the least...

I haven't had the same problem with RHL, but I prefer gentoo nowadays
for the other benefits it has. :)

I know that many people do not like the ati-drivers, but can I get good
performance from the Radeon with just the basic kernel radeon stuff +
basic xfree?
