Shorty:

Look in the /etc directory for the following file, resolv.conf.  If the 
file is present, try to ping or traceroute to each of the ip addresses 
contained in the file when your connection is up to your ISP.  If there 
are no ip addresses or if the file is not present, contact your ISP to 
get the ip address(es) to there DNS servers.  You then put them in the 
file as follows:

nameserver 68.28.50.11
nameserver 68.28.58.11
