[ltp] Re: Poor Battery life of T40 (2379-D5U)

A bit off topic but - is it possible to manually set the power states (and
btw - what [is it sth. in kernel or sth. else?] controls CPU state
switches)? For example - I would like to have my CPU in C1 constantly when
on AC power, and enable power management when using battery (nb. C3 is
efficient but many Thinkpads are quite noisy when this state is active - on
my T21 speakers emit strange high pitched noise (something coming from power
converter maybe?) - not loud but unnerving...). For now I just switched off
CPU power management in BIOS, what apparently shut it down for ACPI, but
this is not a solution...
