have you tried to pass the option  acpi_sleep=3Ds3_bios as kernel boot para=
meter?=20

I'm using an R51, since the 2.6.9 one everything works fine except suspend =
to disk (aka acpi sleep state 4) which can be replaced by software suspend.=
