[ltp] Attention IBM ThinkPad 600e owners in the US...our battery salvation has arrived...

You know how buggy the ThinkPad 600e's batteries and charging circuit is, 
right? Well guess what...we can inexpensively bypass it. 

External lappie batteries have been in the $300-$400 range for years, so 
therefore they have been impractical for 600e owners unless they are quite 
well-to-do. My refurbed TP 600e 400MHz cost me $350. Buy a battery for the 
same price as my laptop? Yeah, right...

Finally some sanity is entering the external battery market. Valence 
Technologies now has a battery which Beast Buy is selling for $125 before a 
$25 rebate. The drive is rated at 5 hours of usage time, and you can get a 
piggyback battery that snaps into the main unit for 5 more hours. It's LiIon 
technology so no memory effect but they have a limited lifespan. 3 years, I 
think. Still, 3 years is better than the matter of months some people have 
been getting from the buggy 600e battery system.
