Yes, true, and it's even worse when you're calling a cell phone, 'cause
that adds another generation.
I do find that the really cheap LD companies who use cheap VoIP
equipment with insufficient echo cancellation and jitter buffer have
poor quality even with only one generation of compression.
But, as always, you get what you pay for!
