Move to 2.6.8.4. I found that there were power management issues with my
ThinkPad 600e and Debian 2.6.8.1-686. In my case, APM was dead, dead,
dead. 2.6.8.4 is the fix for that.

I still can't get sound to work...hideous banshee wails from the speakers
if I let ALSA load. More tuning necessary.
