I just brought a R51 Thinkpad with the ATI Radeon Mobility. Very nice machine.
Redhat 9 installed with no problems ..... sort of. Redhat found and install
Radeon Mobility 7500 driver for the video card. X starts and runs. Problem is
it will ONLY do a resolution of 1024x768. For some reason when I run
redhat-config-xfree86 with the --reconfig option. It will not save the the
XF86Config with a resolution of anything but 800x600. The GUI will let me set
it , but the file does not get written that way. Once I run startx I can go
back run redhat-config-xfree86 again and set the resolution to anything I like
and it save correctly. But it still will not run a resolution better then
1024x768?? What can I do to get a better screen resolution??

Here is short segment of my XFree86.0.log

I tried the fglrx rpm for FireGL from ATI. It installs fine, but insmod will
not load the fglrx module. Says "No Device Found". Here is the error message:

I
looked at this mailing list archive and did not find anything that matched my
problem.

Any ideas????

Thanks
