Hi Joshua,

Since writing the first message, I did upgrade to the Debian stock 2.6.12 686
kernel. At first I was happy, because the USB ports were still active after
waking up from sleep. However, just this morning, they were dead again. But,
restarting the hotplug service did bring them back.
