My somewhat-dated experience is that your recovery disks give you no
choice except to install XP on the first primary partition, and
probably a recovery system on the second primary partition. If that
is still correct, the only way to get Windows on your box is to back
up everything you want saved, repartion to create two partitions AT
THE BEGINNING OF THE DRIVE for windows, install windows, and then
recreate your Linux from the backups. Since you've got recovery
disks, you can take back the second (recovery) partition after XP is
installed, and have three primary partitions for Linux.

You might find it just as easy to run "dpkg --get-selections \* | grep
-e install -e hold | grep -v deinstall > ~/got-selections" to get a
list of all currently-installed packages, and then back up /etc and
/home, all _before_ you repartion. After installing Windows XP, you
could then reinstall Linux (http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/), using
the "got-selections" list, which will be in the saved /home, via
aptitude to recreate your setup, and then install the saved /etc and
/home to put you back where you were. If you're lucky. All the usual
warnings apply, of course, including YMMV.
