It's probably the hard drive and RAM that are causing you pain.  Upgrade
to a 5400 RPM drive and the system will get a LOT faster.  You can get
at least 320 MB in there, so if you have less than that you should
upgrade.  If you're swapping, the pathetically slow drive that comes
standard with the 570E will make it even more painful. :)

I don't know about processor upgrades, but that's probably not your
problem anyway.

(Disclaimer:  I don't use my 570E for desktop work anymore, but it has
been running as a firewall/print/web server continuously for months,
excepting the one power outage we had which lasted several hours and
completely drained the battery.)
