Did you install the "illegal" part of libread, libdvdcss, that allow you 
to read encrypted dvd? you may need to find the the file in someplace 
like
/usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/examples/install-css.sh
and run it.
Maybe you've already done it, just a suggestion.
