Hi,

with respect to the weird hdd spindown sound of the R52 under Linux
previously mentioned here, I'd like to add my part to the harddisk
paranoia...

I ran smartctl to check the smart values of the hdd, which is identified
as

  Device Model:     FUJITSU MHV2100AH
  Firmware Version: 00840096
  User Capacity:    100.030.242.816 bytes
  ATA Version is:   6
  ATA Standard is:  ATA/ATAPI-6 T13 1410D revision 3a

When comparining two consecutive results, I understand some changes,
namely Start_Stop_Count as well as Load_Cycle_Count due to the spindown
of the drive via laptop-mode and of course Power_On_Hours. On the other
hand, I don't know, how to interpret the following changes (with 3
seconds between the smartctl calls)

  Raw_Read_Error_Rate     75793 -> 76456
  Seek_Error_Rate          4074 ->  4090
  Hardware_ECC_Recovered   1090 ->  1105
  Multi_Zone_Error_Rate   24800 -> 24814
  Run_Out_Cancel          1.529.021.136.944 -> 429.510.033.306
(decimal points added for the last two values)

And finally, the Reallocated_Sector_Ct is 8589934592000! In other
circumstances, a number different from zero would make me worry, but
this value just looks incorrect.

What are your experiences/values/suggestions/hints? Is my hdd showing a
"normal" behaviour?

Best wishes,
Torsten
