I've had a T40 for almost 18mo, and it's my main machine, meaning a
large fraction of 24/7, plus transported a good bit to the local
coffeeshop. About the only thing I can say is worn is the keys have
shiny spots where my fingers rest.

FC3 installs nicely, and the recent reports of ACPI working mean it's a
solid machine.

If I had to do it over, I'd get a T43p with the 15", 1G ram (from
Crucial), and the fast hard drive. Yeah you pay, but it's worth it. And
with smart shopping you can buy components cheaper elsewhere. I'm kind
of sad seeing the new models roll out, because I know I'm not going to
need to get a new machine for a couple more years.
